Intermediate Final Awaits, Robbie and the lads

Armagh secured a fantastic win to jump the underdogs to an Intermediate Final next Saturday night in Canton. Robbie Logue with the aid of Brian McGrath have now led the team to 3 straight victorys starting with Local rivals Galway, Mayo, and now the top seeded Intermediate Team Wolfe Tones. Victory was made all the sweeter following the Tones arrogant display earlier in the year. As the old adage goes, "He who laughs last, laughs the longest".

Final Score Armagh Notre Dame 1-9 Wolfe tones 0-8. Darren Gilsenan scored the vital goal to propel Armagh into the final. The club wishes all the best to Robbie and the lads as they take on Connemara Gaels. It will be Aghyran vs. Beragh as Robbie pits his management skills against fellow Tyrone Gael Martin Kerr.

AND - Club Notes - 9th of August 2009

Senior/Junior Football

Armagh Notre Dame had a very successful weekend past, with the Juniors recording their first point of the year with a well earned draw against Mayo, Final Score Armagh ND 1-10 Mayo 2-7. Following on from that well earned draw, the Seniors maintained their winning record against a fancied Galway team. Although Armagh ND started the brightest, it was Galway who scored the first goal of the game, against the run of play, however Armagh ND settled down with a well take goal by Granemore superstar Brian Boylan. Brian also added a great long distance score off the upright to put Armagh Notre Dame back into the driving seat. Armagh could feel that at the break the score line of Armagh ND 1-4 Galway 1-3, did not do them justice, with some easy frees missed and also the Galway defense dragging Gavin Gilsenan down after long solo run through on goal. The second half opened with a Galway score before Dominic Magill scored with a tight angle and back to the uprights again to push Armagh ahead. With 15 minutes played in the second half Armagh ND were reduced to 12 men with Fergal McClelland being sent to the line for what appeared to be a nothing more than a shoulder challenge. Galway smelling a chance to push Armaghs defense pushed forward only to be denied by the wood work, and an Armagh defense that was letting nothing past them. Gavin Gilsenan kicked the last point of the game to secure a hard earned victory for the Armagh boys, proving once again, there are no pretenders in Brighton. Final Score was Armagh Notre Dame 1-8 Galway 1-7. Best for Armagh, Niall Lennon, Damien Burke & Captain Frank Meehan. Photos can be view on the clubs Facebook Page www.facebook.com/armaghnotredame .

Next up this weekend is Mayo on Saturday night at 530Pm in Canton, victory will guarantee Robbie Logue and his charges the final Intermediate Semi Final Spot. The club wishes the boys all the best.
